The Jakarta Police say that they are ready to reopen the
investigation of a sexual harassment case involving a senior official
from the National Land Agency (BPN) last year.
South Jakarta
District Court previously ordered the Police to resurrect the inquiry
by granting the wish of one of the victims identified as AN during a
pre-trial session on Monday.
Jakarta Police spokesman Sr. Comr. Rikwanto was quoted by kompas.com as saying that they are ready to abide by the verdict.
“The
judge has expressed the court’s opinion that the evidence is
sufficient. Therefore, we must not halt the investigation. We are back
on track,” said Rikwanto on Tuesday.
The Jakarta Police
officially closed the case on Nov. 23 last year, citing lack of
evidence. The main suspect, who is a high-ranking BPN official, was
identified only as GN.
Presiding judge Aksir of the South Jakarta
District Court said he agreed with the objections from the plaintiff
that the evidence comprising videotapes and communication by emails
were sufficient for the investigation to continue.
GN allegedly
sexually harassed three of his subordinates — AIF, AN and NPS in March
and July last year in the BPN building located in South Jakarta. AIF
reportedly suffered the most significant harassment and reportedly had
been abused since 2010.
